Alejandro Vargas Uscategui is Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Universidad de Chile. He is a dedicated and enthusiastic researcher in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. He has education, experience, and skills to develop technology using metallic and ceramic materials at the nano- or macro-scale. Dr. Vargas has experience and capacity for research and development focused on materials for energy applications, which includes the analysis of the structure, properties, processing, and performance. He also has knowledge and particular interest in the development of materials resistant to corrosion and wear. Dr. Vargas current research interest is oriented towards the development of materials and manufacturing techniques based on the additive manufacturing concept.
