The Solid Mechanics area involves disciplines related to the behavior of deformable solids both in the static and dynamic cases.

The lines of research in Solid Mechanics that are covered in DIMEC U. Chile are computational solid mechanics, computational biomechanics, finite element method, meshfree methods, boundary element method, analytical and computational methods in fracture mechanics, elasticity theory, non-linear elasticity, structural dynamics, rotor dynamics, model adjustment and damage detection, among others.
